Report 1 deceased person and 19 new cases of Covid 19 in the Region

This Saturday, November 14, the regional authorities delivered a new health balance with the local situation of the Coronavirus.

“We must mourn the death of a person due to Covid, living in the commune of Coquimbo. We send our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones,” said the Seremi de Salud, Alejandro García.

Regarding new cases, the Health Authority registered 19 infections, reaching a total of 12,831 accumulated cases, of which 77 are with active contagion. “Of the new cases, 3 correspond to the commune of La Serena, 6 to Coquimbo, 3 from Ovalle, 3 from Monte Patria and 4 from Punitaqui”, detailed the Seremi García.

Finally, the Health authority reiterated the call to the community to participate in the active research operations carried out throughout the region and highlighted the number of PCR tests taken during the last day.

“Finally, I reiterate the call to the population to participate in the active investigation operations carried out in each of the communes of the region. During the last day, 2,567 PCR tests were carried out, of which only 19 were positive, “concluded Seremi.

3 severe patients

The director (S) of the Coquimbo Health Service, Edgardo González, delivered the report of hospitalized patients in the Assistance Network. “As of today, November 14, of the 809 people hospitalized in the Coquimbo Region, 17 are hospitalized as a result of Covid-19, and 3 remain serious and require mechanical ventilation: 1 in the Coquimbo Hospital and 2 at the La Serena Hospital ”, he pointed out.

Regarding the number of beds available, the authority mentioned that, of the 1,169 beds currently endowed, 278 are available. “In relation to the beds in the Critical Patient Units, today we have 14 units: 4 ICU beds, which are those with mechanical ventilators, and 10 ICUs,” he explained.

Regarding the report of health personnel affected by the virus, the Director (S) reported that currently, 10 officials of the Health Service and hospitals have tested positive for the virus, and 35 are in preventive quarantine. While in Primary Health Care (PHC), again no officials are reported who have tested positive for the virus, and 10 are kept in quarantine.
