One day after TVN and Canal 13, the current organizers of the Viña del Mar Festival, assured that holding the event was not viable during the pandemic, the mayor Virginia Reginato he demanded collaboration to be able to finalize the 62nd edition of the contest.
“I want to highlight the coinciding vision of the Municipal Council and this mayor regarding the position of seeking a path that allows the channels to develop, based on your experience and professionalism, an alternative Covid mode, “said Reginato on his Twitter account.
The mayor indicated that during the last session of the Council the realization of Viña 2021 was discussed and that it was concluded that they are living “adaptation times”.
This Monday TVN and Channel 13 signed a joint statement in which they argued that holding the festival in a pandemic was not possible and that “making the decision to suspend it is the right thing to do.” They also requested the intervention of the Comptroller’s Office to analyze the concession contract for the event.
