A sad record of 763 new cases of COVID-19 infections were registered during the last 24 hours in the Bío Bío region as reported this Saturday, accumulating 76,496 infections.
However, at the same time the area records a record of active cases, with 3,926 people.
“The Bío Bío region, as of March 6, registers 76,496 accumulated cases of covid-19, 50,395 from the province of Concepción, 15,678 from Bío Bío, 9,450 from Arauco, 688 from other regions and 285 in home investigation. Additionally, 3,926 active cases are registered, 2,609 in the province of Concepción, 784 in Bío Bío, 476 in Arauco, 20 in other regions and 37 in home investigation, ”said the Seremi de Salud del Bío Bío, Héctor Muñoz.
Among the new infections, Talcahuano registered 100 new cases, followed by Concepción with 73 and Los Angeles with 66.
Meanwhile, in active cases, Concepción is the most affected city, with 487 people. It is followed by Los Angeles with 456 and Talcahuano, with 386 active cases.

More than 1,300 deaths in the Region
On the other hand, the Bío Bío region registers 1,323 deaths confirmed by covid-19, which corresponds to the deceased valid by the Department of Statistics and Health Information DEIS, based on information from the Civil Registry and Identification.
Another delicate situation is the decreasing availability of ICU and ICU beds for the treatment of the most seriously ill.
“In the regional public and private health network we have a total of 259 ICU beds and 138 ICU beds, 16 and 15 of them available, which are equivalent to 6% and 11% availability respectively, also having a high capacity of reconversion, being able to refer patients to facilities in the same region or to other regions of the country if necessary. The endowment of mechanical fans reaches 272, 80 available, corresponding to 29% ”, added Muñoz.
Finally, the Health Ministry indicated that the daily PCR sampling on March 6 accumulates a total of 944,257 tests performed in the region, with 78,393 positive results, which is equivalent to cumulative positivity of 8.3%, without considering the exams practiced in the region, but which come from other regions of the country.
“The occupancy of our network of health residences in the region reaches 83%, with 747 of 899 rooms occupied, with a total of 994 patients, considering people positive for covid-19 and close contacts,” concluded the Seremi.
