Raquel Argandoña returns to Welcome amid controversy with her son

After being absent from the morning Welcome For more than two weeks due to the controversy surrounding her family, Raquel Argandoña returned to the program’s panel this morning.

The communicator appeared on the screen after 10 in the morning, with a welcome from her colleagues on the program. Then she took the floor and said: “(I want) to thank my co-workers, especially Bienvenidos, Tonka, Polo, Amaro. The management too, Mr. Max Luksic, José Miranda ”, he said in reference to the executive director of the channel and the director of programming, respectively.

Then, addressing the public, he added: “I also thank all of you, who in some way or another reached me through WhatsApp, messages on Instagram, and e-mail, supporting me in this difficult moment. I know that I am not the first mother to go through painful moments for a child, thank you very much for all that support but I will always be there, next to my two children, taking care of them, protecting them until the end, really thank you very much. I need to work, and I think I should start over, so thank you very much ”.

From inside the project, they comment that the panelist had to return to her work due to the contract she maintains with the television station, and that during all this time she received the support of the morning team, where, according to transcends, she would be very loved and valued.

The entertainer was absent from the Channel 13 space since the news was known that her son, Hernán Calderón Argandoña, attacked his father, Hernán Calderón Salinas with a knife, information that was made public on August 11. Because of this, the 23-year-old is currently in preventive detention at the Santiago 1 Penitentiary Center.

Argandoña, however, reappeared on the screen on Wednesday, August 19, when he gave an interview to Bienvenidos, conducted by journalist Amaro Gómez Pablos. This conversation was not only the first in-depth interview given by Argandoña after the events, but also the first time that the program addressed the Calderón-Argandoña case, while the subject had been part of the pattern of the rest of the local morning sessions for a week. . The explanation given by the channel regarding this omission was that “because it involves different and found versions, as a channel this Wednesday we were able to screen the Calderón-Argandoña case since we obtained statements from most of those involved with their respective looks, interpretations and testimonials. In this way, the issue was presented impartially, which is what we were trying to do as a means of communication ”.

The interview with Argandoña, on the other hand, was a tune-up success for the program, which in recent months has been mostly in third place on the morning block, behind Chilevisión and Mega. Said chapter starring Argandoña registered 9.7 average rating points, the second highest rating of the year -the first dates from April 10, with 9.8 points-. The program tried to replicate the results the next day with an interview with Rebeca Naranjo, partner of Hernán Calderón Jr., who is linked to this case by a parallel complaint: a complaint for repeated sexual abuse against Hernán Calderón Sr. This interview also allowed the program to lead the time slot with 7.4 rating points. In the following days, however, the show returned to third place on the schedule.
