The Parole Commission of the Santiago Appeals Court received only 66 (6.7%) of a total of 979 requests -among them those of the prisoners of Punta Peuco- presented by the people who are deprived of liberty in the different penitentiary establishments of the jurisdiction.
The group of judges of the Court of Appeals worked in virtual mode – with the exception of the last day, which was held in person at the Court of Appeals of Santiago -, between October 1 and 15, a period in which reviewed in detail each of the applications and the corresponding reports issued by the Gendarmerie.

1- Santiago Sur Preventive Detention Center (former Penitentiary): 430 applications submitted, 29 freedoms granted, 26 omitted.
2- Colina 1 Penitentiary Compliance Center: 293 applications submitted, 12 granted, 10 omitted.
3- Colina 2 Penitentiary Compliance Center: 227 applications, 22 granted, 4 omitted.
4- Punta Peuco Penitentiary Compliance Center: 5 applications, 0 granted.
5- Metropolitan Study and Work Center: 14 applications, 3 granted.
6- Manuel Rodríguez Open Rehabilitation Center: 2 applications, 0 granted.
7- Special Unit for High Security: 8 applications submitted, 0 granted.
Who made up the Probation Judges Commission?
The Parole Commission was chaired by the minister of the Santiago Court of Appeals Paola Plaza González and composed of the Judges of Guarantee Francis Fell, Nibaldo Arévalo and Sergio Córdova, in addition to the magistrates of the Oral Criminal Trial Courts Valeria Alliende, Mauricio Rettig, Carolina Herrera, Matías de la Noi, Alejandro Aguilar, Patricia Bründl and José Pérez.
The Punta Peuco prison is located in the Til Til commune, and there are retired military detainees and former State agents convicted of crimes against them humanity during the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. It is under the administration of the Chilean Gendarmerie.
