Punta Arenas and Concepción became the communes with the most active cases of coronavirus in the country, according to the latest Epidemiological Report of the Ministry of Health released this Wednesday.
The figures collected as of August 30 place the capital of Magallanes in the first place, with 966 patients considered “infectious”, while the city of Penquista appears in second place, with 605.
Precisely both areas -which are under confinement- pushed their respective regions to report their highest records of daily infections in the last week.
The Bío Bío, for example, reached its peak (known so far) of new cases last Saturday, August 29, just one day after the total quarantine set for Greater Concepción came into effect.
The same happened in the Magallanes region, whose highest numbers were recorded last Thursday, with 147 cases.
Since then, a single day, on August 28, the figure dropped below the threshold of 100 infections.
Top 30
Punta Arenas and Concepción are immediately followed by only communes that are currently under confinement: Arica, Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Puente Alto and Chillán (he left his quarantine on Wednesday). Valparaíso, Talcahuano and Viña del Mar complete the top 10.
Starting from here – and despite being within the communes with the most active cases published by the Minsal – the list intersperses areas that are in different stages of the Step by Step Plan, from communes with quarantines to others that are with much less measures restrictive.
Such is the case of Maipú, Rancagua, Santiago, La Florida and Peñalolén, which are currently in Phase 2 of Transition.
San Pedro de la Paz, Talca and Coronel also appear, all of them in Preparation Phase 3, which includes -among other activities- the possibility of going out every day of the week, practicing sports and participating in events, social and recreational gatherings. of maximum 50 people.
