Two communes in the southern zone are those that register the highest figures of active cases of coronavirus in the country: Punta Arenas and Puerto Montt. The latter even surpassed Arica, which held second place in this indicator for several weeks.
This was evidenced by the sixtieth Epidemiological Report published this afternoon by the Ministry of Health (Minsal), in which the evolution of the pandemic in each commune of the country is detailed.
The report revealed that despite the fact that Punta Arenas counts less than a thousand active cases (865) and that it continues to decline in this item, it remains the commune with the highest number nationwide. They are followed by Puerto Montt (509) – which added 43 active infections compared to the previous report – and Arica (506).
They are added High Bridge (402) -which also had an increase-; Temuco (384); Osorno (380) and Antofagasta (368).
On the other hand, with regard to the rate of incidence of assets -that is, the number of active infections per 100,000 inhabitants-, the communes they lead are, for the most part, from the Magallanes Region: Future (1,160.7); Natales (1,034.4); Saint Gregory (881.1); Cape Horn (806.9); Laguna Blanca (757.6) and Punta Arenas (609.2).
These are followed by communes in the Los Lagos and La Araucanía regions, such as San Juan de la Costa (576.0); Galvarino (562.0), Chonchi (487.1) -where the quarantine began this Saturday-, and Perquenco (484.6).
The Metropolitan Region, meanwhile, did not report any municipality with an asset incidence rate greater than one hundred.
Along with the epidemiological report, the Ministry of Health also published the weekly report of deaths from Covid-19 from the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS).
