The National Prosecutor’s Office reported that 62 people have been formalized during the last ten months for various crimes committed by State agents in the framework of the manifestations of the social outbreak, iinitiated in October 2019. To date, three people have also been charged in court, and one has been convicted of the crime of attempted murder.
Among the defendants formalized include the Carabineros officials who caused eye injuries to the victims Gustavo Gatica, whose responsible was formalized on August 21 for unlawful pressures causing extremely serious injuries, and the young Fabiola Campillai, whose alleged culprit was formalized this week for the same crime.
There are 8,575 cases denounced for institutional violence, and 8,827 victims of these events. Of these, 413 victims reported eye injuries, while 627 for other serious injuries, such as fractures and head trauma. In addition, 3,342 complaints are for injuries caused by firearms.
