In 2019, the film director, Nicolas Lopez, it was formalized by three crimes of alleged sexual abuse, rape and indecent offenses.
The Eastern Prosecutor’s Office charged López with a violation at a minor age, a fact that would have occurred in October and November 2004 in Viña del Mar and Providencia.
Then, in 2016 the filmmaker would have committed the crime of indecent offenses against a adult.
The last three cases for which the filmmaker was formalized are sexual abuse. According to the Public Ministry, between July 2015 and August 2016 the accused abused a victim three times. On two occasions in the commune of Providencia and a third in Las Condes.
In last December, López was reformed by the prosecution, hearing in which “there was a modification in the correction of the date of one of those events that occurred in 2015,” said the prosecutor Felipe Cembrano that time.
After closing the investigation, on October 10, the Public Ministry filed an accusation against the film director.
“Considering the penalties assigned by law to the crimes for which it is accused, the modifying circumstances of criminal responsibility, the degree of development, reiteration of the same and the extent of the harm caused, the Public Ministry requires that the accused Nicolás López Fernández be imposed the following penalties “says the writing.
There it is requested, “for the crimes of violation (…) repeatedly, the penalty of 10 years and 1 day of imprisonment in its medium degree ”, in addition to accessory penalties such as absolute perpetual disqualification from public office.

It is also required “for the crimes of sexual abuse (…) as repeated the penalty of 5 years and a day of major imprisonment in its minimum degree ”, according to the document.
They also ask for a penalty of 61 days in prison minor in its minimum degree for the crime of public outrage to good manners.
The oral trial preparation hearing was scheduled for December 22.
The filmmaker testified before the Public Ministry as a defendant on November 22 and 23, 2018. In his testimony, he dismissed one by one the 10 cases of the women who accused him of sexually abusing them and pointed out that in the cases in which he had sexual relations with some, they were consensual.
“I am currently 35 years old and have been a film director, screenwriter and producer for approximately 15 years. At the age of 12, I began to write as a columnist for the El Mercurio newspaper supplement Zona de contacto, in 1996. I started writing from a very young age and, as a teenager, I did so from a political incorrect point of view. In this context, I said many things that today seem inappropriate to me and that, looked at with today’s sensitivity, clash even more, but that evidently sought to provoke and were born from irony and a black and defiant sense of humor ”, he declared that time.
López Paula Vial’s lawyer said that “we have rejected any possibility of an abbreviated procedure or intermediate agreement that implies accepting guilt in any of the cases presented.”
He added that “we have said from day one that the media accusations are false. The oral trial is the opportunity in which we can exercise the right to defense of Mr. Lopez, presenting all the evidence that supports his innocence ”.
