President Sebastián Piñera received a fine of more than 2.5 million pesos by the Seremi de Salud de Valparaíso, after his controversial selfie without a mask in Cachagua.
It is a photograph that the Head of State took with a young woman, while walking along the beach last Saturday, December 5.
After the controversy generated by the viralization of the image, the President decided to report himself to the respective health authority, giving rise to a summary.
Through a statement, the Seremi de Salud de Valparaíso reported that “the resolution of the health summary sent to the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, after the self-report for non-compliance in the use of a mask in public space in the commune of Zapallar ”.
As a consequence, the writing adds, “A fine of 50 UTM is established, which is equivalent to 2,551,450 pesos”.
The Health Department of Valparaíso, Francisco Alvarez, stressed that the President’s self-report helped in the summary investigation.
“The fact that he self-reported facilitated the process to be able to initiate the sanitary investigation and establish the corresponding sanction. Nobody is above the law, I believe that the authorities have to set an example ”, he stressed.
As confirmed to Radio Bío Bío From the Presidency, the fine has already been paid by Sebastián Piñera.
