This is a man, who, according to police and health records, should be serving quarantine until next May 9.
Later, the Carabineros general, Enrique Bassaletti, gave a press point giving more details about what happened, asserting that this subject “was in the context of the protests, was subjected to an identity check“, where it was determined that he was infected.
In addition, he noted that he is being transferred to a healthcare residence and that it has not yet been determined how many people he had contact with at the demonstration.
On the other hand, Bassaletti referred to the arrest of some journalists in the same place, explaining that it was due to the fact that they did not carry a visible credential or implements, since they were recording with cell phones, so, after checking their profession at the police station, they were released.
It should be noted that the Carabineros proceeded to dissolve the demonstration that was taking place in the Plaza Italia sector, on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, because meetings of more than 50 people are not authorized.
Meanwhile, from the CUT argued that it was a peaceful demonstration And, in the words of its president, Bárbara Figueroa, “we informed the Government and Minister Blumel yesterday, we were not doing anything that seemed irregular to us.”
With several detainees, a demonstration ended that was attempted in Santiago Center within the Labor Day.
The events were recorded in the sector of the Alameda with Lord Cochrane, in front of the headquarters of the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT), after a group of representatives of the entity tried to carry out a commemoration in a sector that is in total quarantine.
It should be noted that within these incidents, CUT and ANEF leaders were detained, as well as members of the press, including a journalist and a producer for the TVN morning ‘Buenos Días a Todos’.
Bárbara Figueroa: “We were not doing anything irresponsible”
The president of the CUT, Barbara Figueroa, criticized the actions of the Carabineros during the failed demonstration.
“We informed the Government and Minister Blumel yesterday, we are not doing anything that seems irregular to us.“said Barbara Figueroa, president of the CUT 24 Hours.
At the same time, he stated that “we were a small number, the only thing we hoped for was to be able to sing ‘The United People’ within the framework of what have traditionally been the commemorations of May 1. In Chile, it cannot be that we have the right to do so, under these conditions … We were not doing anything irresponsible, we took all security measures and yet leaders were detained without provocation”
