A light intervention in Plaza Baquedano, in the center of Santiago, was prevented by a police patrol who pointed a spotlight in the direction of the lights.

The artistic action truncated by the police officers was carried out this Thursday night by the collective Delight Lab, known for interventions in the Telefónica tower building with social messages such as “Chile woke up”, “Solidarity” and “For a new country”, and was being broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Cima Gallery.

“Destroy the logic of the system in our hearts”, read the text projected in a circle around the Monument to General Manuel Baquedano.

Additionally, the “guñelve”, a symbol of Mapuche iconography also called the Star of Arauco.

However, after 8:40 p.m., a uniformed police patrol arrived at the roundabout and set up a spotlight against the intervention, which ruined it.

Through a story on Instagram, Delight Lab accused censorship of Carabineros: “Yes, we intervened with tribute to poets and yes, they censored us. Now all of Chile knows who they were”said the collective.

From the Carabineros, meanwhile, they assured that the projections were made “sporadically” from a building on Av. Vicuña Mackenna by five people, who -according to this same version- turned off the lights when the uniformed officers arrived to verify the procedure.

“The community is informed, which was hardly made aware of this situation, the Compilation of background information to establish the context in which it occurred and implement eventual administrative actions, if warranted“the police reported on their Twitter account.
