This week it became known that the President Sebastián Piñera he was preparing a speech to make a balance one year from 18-O. This contemplated what has been done in social matters, security and human rights. However, a few days ago doubts began to arise regarding this idea. In the government they recognize that what was wanted was to make a speech before the anniversary of the social outbreak and not on the same day, since acts of violence could be recorded and be “out of place.”
During this day, the President chose not to say anything. ANDn Palace explained that another analysis was made: it could be risky for Piñera to make a statement that could stress the atmosphere. The purpose, then, is to do something later and focused on the plebiscite of October 25, which is still under evaluation.
At the close of this edition, the government indicated that the President has no activities planned for Sunday, but that he will be monitoring everything that happens in the country from his home. If necessary, they add, he will go to La Moneda and convene his political committee. The Carabineros staff was reinforced around his house for that day.
