President Sebastián Piñera, accompanied by the Ministers of Health,
Enrique Paris, and Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, in addition to the undersecretary Paula Daza, visited a storage and distribution center for vaccines against covid-19.

At the site, the President learned about the containers in which the vaccines are transported and the ultra-freezers delivered on loan by the Pfizer laboratory to Chile to store them safely.

“It will allow us to start the vaccination process in our country, we will start with the health workers who work in the ICU (…) and then we will continue with the elderly, chronic adults and workers deployed in the fight. against covid-19 ”, he assured.

“Our intention is to vaccinate the bulk of the critical population during the first quarter and the entire target population during the first half of 2021,” he added.

These freezers have the capacity to store vaccines at –70 ° C and store more than 380,000 doses of vaccines at the same time. They are equipped with technology that allows continuous monitoring of temperature and storage conditions, avoiding putting vaccines at risk.

As detailed by La Moneda, they are certified by the ISP, and with maintenance carried out in the month of December, minimizing the risk of failure and, in addition, they are in a delimited sector, with restricted access and continuous surveillance of security cameras.

In this context, the freezers will be used for the first time in the coming days when they receive the first 20,000 doses that will arrive in the country in December.
