The President, Sebastián Piñera, announced this afternoon that he promulgated the government project dispatched yesterday from Congress that allows the withdrawal of 10% of the funds from the AFPs.
In this way, and after publication in the Official Gazette, this Monday, December 7, the first applications could begin to be made. And with this, the first payments could be carried out, according to the President, on December 17, since the law established a period of up to 10 business days for the first deposit and another ten business days for the second.
“I want to share the firm commitment of our government to facilitate and expedite the processing of this project through an expeditious process of promulgation, which we are doing today, of taking the Comptroller’s opinion and publication in the Official Gazette. With the purpose of allowing the first retreats to begin on Thursday, December 17, a week before Christmas. And that the second withdrawal can be made 10 business days from the first withdrawal, ”said Piñera.
He added that “the government together with the Central Bank, the Financial Market Commission and the State Bank are working with intensity and urgency so that this withdrawal of 10% is done simply, quickly and safely. And for that it is essential to respect health regulations, avoid crowds to avoid new infections and we are also taking all security measures to prevent acts of crime that occur due to these withdrawals.
And finally, he called on those who wish to withdraw their 10% to privilege electronic means of payment and avoid the use of cash.
During his remarks Piñera also called on the Senate to move forward and reach agreements on the project that improves pensions and that is currently being processed in said legislative headquarters.
“I want to call on the Senate and all political forces to seek and find an agreement that allows us to promptly carry out this necessary and urgent improvement of pensions for women and the middle class of our country,” said the President.
