This Friday, the XV Cover of the Pacific Alliance was held at the Palacio de La Moneda, an activity chaired by President Sebastián Piñera and where the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, also participated in person; online, the president of Mexico, Andrés López Obrador; and Francisco Sagasti, head of state of Peru
On the occasion, Piñera declared: “Today we have reached important agreements on a route or roadmap for a regional digital market agreement; a roadmap to achieve full equality of opportunities and rights between men and women; a roadmap to free ourselves from single-use plastics, how much damage it causes; and besides that we have managed to design strategies to face the challenges of the moment ”, according to La Tercera.
He also took advantage of the instance to refer to the current situation of vaccines for covid in Chile: “We have made great progress to ensure a safe and effective vaccine, which we hope to have available and start vaccinating, starting with the populations at risk, over the next few days or weeks and that will allow us to better control the coronavirus pandemic and will also allow us to recover the freedoms and capacities of all people to fulfill and carry out their dreams and projects ”.
Finally, the President announced important agreements were reached for the incorporation of Singapore and Ecuador as associate members of the Pacific Alliance, adding that he hopes that “New Zealand, Australia and Canada will soon join.”
