One of the most controversial matches at the start of the qualifying rounds was played in Lima, where Brazil beat Peru 4-2, with a controversial performance by Chilean referee Julio Bascuñán.
The national referee was filled with negative comments for his actions in the Lima National, the same for Piero Maza, who led the decisions made by the VAR in the controversial Peruvian night.
Due to the controversy, the Conmebol released this Thursday the audios between the judges of the match, where the determinations that Bascuñán, Maza and company made in what was finally a Brazilian win are clarified.

The most controversial play was the second penalty charged for Scratch, where allegedly Carlos Zambrano fouls Neymar. The contact is not clear at all, but from the VAR they assure that it was a fault.
The other play they showed was the first penalty in favor of Brazil, at which time Peru did things better and was ahead 1-0.
