The peruvian team announced this Friday the list of players called up for the duels against Chile and Argentina, for the third and fourth date of the Qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022.
The technician’s payroll Ricardo Gareca has 26 players, and the great absence is Jefferson Farfán, who failed to overcome his knee injury suffered in the duel against Brazil.
Neither is Paolo Guerrero, also injured, and Gabriel Costa, Colo Colo striker who has performed at a good level since Gustavo Quinteros arrived at the Albo team.
The big news are the “Italian” Gianluca Lapadula, 30-year-old forward born in Italy, with a Peruvian mother, who plays in Serie A Benevento, and the “Swiss“Jean Pierre Rhyner, defense of Cartagena in the second division of Spain.
Lapadula did the paperwork to play for Peru, despite the fact that he once played a friendly with San Marino with Azzurra. FIFA regulations allow it, as it was not an official match.
In the case of Rhyner, a 24-year-old player also with a Peruvian mother is now had integrated the sub 20 and sub 21 of Switzerland, for which he had to comply with the process required by FIFA to make the change of association official and he was finally eligible, last July, to play for the Peruvian team.
The duel between Chile and Peru is scheduled for Friday, November 13 at the National Stadium. Days later, on Tuesday 17, the “Rimac” will be located in Lima to receive Argentina.
