A 47-year-old patient with coronavirus he escaped twice this Thursday from the La Serena Hospital.

The first leak occurred this afternoon, but was quickly found and brought back to the facility by SAMU personnel.

Thus, he was admitted to the Hospital Emergency Unit and then transferred to a respiratory box. But when officials work on disinfecting the area according to protocol, the man ran away from the building again.

A group of local workers came out to meet him again, however, they were attacked by the patient, who suffered decompensation, before losing track of him.

The incident led to an intense search operation for the city, which ended on Thursday night with the capture of man by police and military forces, as confirmed by the health center through a public statement.

“Given the risk of exposure of the workers involved, they were admitted to the Emergency Unit of the compound, to initiate all the corresponding protocols,” they said from the hospital, from where they “deeply regretted the events that occurred.”

“As a public health institution, it is carrying out all the pertinent investigations and actions so that events like this do not have a place in the health care complex,” they sentenced.
