With nighttime house arrest, prohibition to approach the victim and national roots, Raúl Espinoza remained, Adventist pastor charged with sexual abuse against a girl under the age of 14 in the Valparaíso region.
As indicated in the formalization, which occurred in the Local Prosecutor’s Office of La Calera, the defendant, grandfather of the victim’s brother, abused a girl only eight years old between 2016 and 2017, in circumstances in which he was left to his careful because her mother was working. In that answer he would have taken advantage of the minor, carrying out acts that were described in the hearing as of “sexual significance”.
The case was opened when the minor herself told a classmate that she had been sexually abused, at least a year after the events occurred. In addition, the family pointed out that the girl showed erratic behavior and even tried to take her own life.
These events occurred in the family’s home at that time, located in the commune of La Cruz. That is why the Public Ministry formalized it for the crime of sexual abuse against a minor under 14 years of age, requesting the precautionary measure of night house arrest, prohibition of approaching the victim and national roots, which was accepted by the Court of La Calera guarantee.
In addition, an investigation period of at least 6 months was determined, punctually until August, at which time an abbreviated trial will be held against the man.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the victim’s family is aware of the scheduled trial and has been given psychological support from the Regional Unit for Attention to Victims and Witnesses.
