To avoid meeting the deadline and having to call new elections, the Benny Gantz formation made a last-minute proposal: vote two separate budgets, one in late December and one in early January.
But the idea did not prosper and this Tuesday the deputies they rejected it with 47 votes in favor and 49 against.
Nobody comes out unscathed

Although the Likud leads the polls, the emergence of this new party and the rise of the radical right-wing Yamina formation of another former minister, Naftali Bennett, they would subtract votes from Netanyahu and could complicate the game of post-election alliances.
In addition, although the last elections were practically Netanyahu-Gantz duels, “the disintegration of the Blue and White party changed the dynamics,” said Yohanan Plessner, director of the Israel Democratic Institute, an analysis center in Jerusalem.
The result of this, according to him, is that “no longer [se] knows who is the main opponent ”of Netanyahu, whose electoral campaign will coincide with the vaccination against covid-19. A virus that, just a few months ago, favored her union with Benny Gantz.
