Paris returns to the charge against the Prosecutor’s Office and affirms that they will deliver the Minsal emails when they do not ask for them “by broadcast or as trawling”

Despite the fact that the judge of the 7th Guarantee Court of Santiago, Patricio Álvarez, ratified the formula presented by the Prosecutor’s Office to access the emails of former minister Jaime Mañalich and other authorities – a mechanism that was rejected by the defense of the aforementioned -, the current Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, again denied this delivery until the conditions are clear.

Paris had already criticized this system proposed by the prosecutor Marcelo Carrasco, which consists in that the Public Ministry would keep a copy of all emails “as communications withheld (…) as ‘witness copy’, under chain of custody and without be able to access it ”. In this way, he would only access the messages “singled out” by Minister Paris, while the rest would be out of his reach. The criticism of Paris pointed out that an illegal “mirror” of the information could be made.

This Wednesday, after this ruling by Judge Álvarez, Paris returned to the charge. “We have nothing to hide from a health point of view,” he said this morning. “What the court has done is ask the Ministry to deliver the documents that will help it study the situation of the named persons. We have not refused, and the ministry will never refuse to collaborate with justice, “said the head of the Health portfolio.

However, he maintained that such request and delivery must be clear, since – he commented – there are more than 30 thousand emails. “What we ask in this second letter is that they tell us exactly what the emails are, what the questions are, what the keywords are, because in reality they asked for everything again in a massive way, and the Supreme Court said it clearly: Those documents that are related to the investigation must be delivered, and not those that endanger national security or people’s privacy, ”he said.

Because of this, he reiterated that they will deliver them “when they are clearly asked for the documents”, because “if they ask for them on the air, or as trawling, as Minister (Jaime) Bellolio said, of course we cannot do it.”

“We are going to collaborate with justice as we have always done without hiding anything, we have nothing to hide from the health point of view,” he stressed.
