During this Thursday, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, referred to the latest ICOVID report that indicates that infections have accelerated in the regions of Maule, Bío Bío and Magallanes.
“The dynamics of contagion at the national level continues to be worrying and with signs of worsening, this time dominated by the loads and rates of transmission markedly high in the southern regions”, details the text.
In this regard, the minister mentioned: “That report worries us. We have constantly said that the pandemic has not stopped, that we have to keep our arms up. (…) It is logical that there are outbreaks, the important thing is to keep this virus in a stabilization stage, hopefully, of endemicity. The endemic can be with high numbers or with low numbers, hopefully it will be with low numbers, but of course we are worried and we will continue to worry and giving everything that is necessary to help prevent it from spreading ”.
“Chile is a very long, very narrow country, with different geographies, and what we have seen is that, suddenly there are more cases in the north. In the north at this time we have very low positivity and a minimal increase in cases, but we have many more cases in Magallanes (…) and also in Bío Bío ”, he said.
Added that they are “taking the appropriate measures, increasing quarantines, that is why two or three times a week we take these measures to prevent it from spreading. We have transferred equipment, we have transferred personnel, we have strengthened the public health system ”.
“In Punta Arenas there is practically a large hospital, plus the Armed Forces hospital and a clinic, and we are obviously trying to contain the spread of the virus that is our job, and obviously prevent patients from reaching the hospital,” he said.
