A lawsuit for 300 million pesos presented by the parents of two minors who were admitted to the German Sanatorium during the explosion in April 2018. While Gas Sur and a contractor company are blamed for the tragedy, the clinic is accused of failing to evacuate patients and to abandon them to their fate.
The first civil lawsuit was filed as a result of the explosion in the German Sanatorium in Concepción, which occurred more than two years ago, an emergency that caused the death of three people and injuries to another 65.
The legal action is of Martín Fuentes’ parents, a minor hospitalized as a result of a serious liver disease and who died in August 2018 in Santiago, in addition to Isidora Henriquez, hospitalized for a clinical study for severe stomach pain.
According to what was stated in the lawsuit, the parents who were caring for their children were informed that the situation due to the smell of gas in the clinic was under control, after which the explosion occurred. having to leave by their own means, abandoned by medical personnel, explained lawyer Oscar Vega.
The lawsuit is against the contractor company that carried out the works that originated the gas leak, the German Sanatorium and the Gas Sur company.
To substantiate the legal action and the 300 million pesos that together they request as compensation, the lawyer explained that there is an agreement with the victims and the injured, which avoided a trial and where the companies recognized responsibility for what happened.
The claim was admitted for processing in the Second Civil Court of Concepción, the defendants having already been notified, without so far the German Sanatorium or Gas Sur having referred to the presentation, despite the consultation of Radio Bío Bío.
