The Seremi de Salud Metropolitana applied this Wednesday a fine of 1,000 UTM ($ 50,327,000) against Juan Salazar, the organizer of a massive clandestine party held in a shed in Maipú on May 3, which was attended by 400 people.
Said pecuniary sanction had been announced last week by the Seremi Paula Labra, which took shape this day, since the accused violated the curfew, the ban on meetings with more than 50 people and the obligation to ensure social distancing.
From Seremi they also pointed out that the place where the party was held, on the Road to Melipilla, it did not have minimum hygiene conditions in the bathrooms, in addition to discovering dead rodents on the ground.
Also, it was detected debris and debris on the floor, a perimeter wall in poor condition and the absence of marked evacuation routes and without emergency lights.
Regarding the criminal investigation, the Santiago Court of Appeals revoked the precautionary measure of preventive detention against Salazar, decreeing his total house arrest.
This is the second time that the precautionary has been modified, since initially the defendant had been left under house arrest at night, but he was transferred to preventive detention after being caught on the street.
Mandatory quarantine in the Metropolitan region
The Government decreed a total quarantine for 38 communes in the Metropolitan region due to the sharp increase in positive cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus reported in the latest balance.
As reported by Minister Jaime Mañalich, the measure will take effect from 10:00 pm on Friday, May 15 throughout the province of Santiago plus six other communes that are adjacent to it, such as San Bernardo, Buin, Lampa , Puente Alto, Colina and Padre Hurtado.
“We are going to announce new extremely tough measures. What is relevant is that these measures are respected as much as possible, so that they have an impact in the short term”, said the secretary of state.
Mañalich, asked about the reasons for not taking the measure in advance, said that “You have to take the right measures, at the right time. Having a national quarantine at a time when there were very few cases made no sense. The harm would have outweighed the benefits.”
