Neither for mayors nor for regional governors, anywhere in Chile: this Wednesday afternoon the political dialogue totally failed between the parties of the former Nueva Mayoría and the Frente Amplio ahead of the November primaries.
The downfall of the talks was confirmed by the president of the PPD, Heraldo Muñoz, on the outskirts of the Electoral Service (Servel).
“Clearly we are not responding to people’s demands. There are some who have spoken of unity, of having open primaries in all regions, but they have come asking for armor, ”he launched.
In this regard, the former foreign minister said that responsible “will have to give explanations”.
For his part, Deputy Marcelo Díaz accused that the failure of the negotiations had its origin in the emphasis given to the distribution of charges.
“In all negotiations there are interests of various parties and when the accent is only placed on the decision to distribute positions, they do not always bear fruit, “the legislator told La Radio.
Asked if he believed that the block is diminished against Chile Vamos, Díaz said that he did not think that and recalled that they had their own problems.
So, the Broad Front reached the Servel alone to register their own pacts, without considering the other sector of the opposition to the government of Sebastián Piñera.
Over the weekend it was learned that the conglomerate did not want to agree to any agreement with the other parties, but on Monday they backed down, although demanding minimal conditions.
The president of Comunes, Jorge Ramírez, explained that what they were asking for was minimum in mayors and governors, added to programmatic minimums and that none of the names to promote was linked to corruption cases.
The panorama in the ruling party is completely opposite, since Chile Vamos – at the edge of the term – closed an agreement as a coalition facing the elections, a pact that has already been entered.
