As of this Saturday, the gastronomic premises located in communes that are in Step 3 of Preparation, will be able to serve the public within its facilities with a 25% capacity.

The announcement was made by the same Minister of Economy, Lucas Palacios, in the company of the Mayor of Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín and the president of the Chilean Gastronomy Association, Máximo Picallo.

Until yesterday, restaurants and cafes could receive people only on its terraces. Thus, the new measure allows the doors to be opened, complying – yes – with three requirements.

The head of Economy, Lucas Palacios explained that the restaurants will attend the 25% of its capacity, with tables arranged 2 meters apart, with a maximum time of stay in the enclosure of 2 hours and with ventilation proportional to the square meters.


For his part, the mayor of Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín, acknowledged that municipal staff will supervise the premises, adding that until March 2021, restaurants and cafes that use the road to serve, they should not pay for it.

Likewise, the president of the Chilean Gastronomy Association, Máximo Picallo, indicated that the measure will benefit locals no access to terrace and restaurants located in areas with colder climates.

Meanwhile, for cafes and restaurants located in communes in Phase 4 of Initial Opening and 5 of Advanced Opening, the capacity inside the premises increases from 50 to 75%, respectively.
