Today Saturday for the first time the National Day Against Femicide is officially commemorated, a date established in memory of Javiera Neira Oportus, a 6-year-old girl who was murdered by her father in 2005.
This 2020, according to the Ministry of Women, to date there have been registered 40 completed femicides and 147 frustrated nationwide.
For its part, the Network Against Violence against Women counts 53 of these crimes.
From the group they say that the State is up to date in prevention and education, according to its spokeswoman, Lorena Astudillo.
This day has been commemorated by various government authorities through their social networks, as well as activities organized by civil society groups.
Prior to the commemoration of this day, the Association of Family Victims of Femicide and the communist deputy Karol Cariola presented a bill of justice and reparation to victims of femicide and their families.
This will allow us to strengthen their protection network, responding to their emergency call to arrive on time each time they are being victims of violence. #No morepic.twitter.com/cEggzFLMHU
