On the 290th day of the pandemic in Chile, the number of deaths confirmed by coronavirus in the country reached 16,007 people. This occurs after the authorities of the Ministry of Health announced that they joined the sad list 48 new fatalities from the disease.
The region that concentrates the highest number of deaths is the Metropolitan, with 10,576, a figure equivalent to 66.07% of all deaths.
With respect to daily cases, during the last 24 hours, 1,998 new infected (1,414 symptomatic, 535 asymptomatic and 49 unreported), from 40,061 PCR examinations, with a positivity of 4.99%.
Striking was the case of the Valparaíso Region, which this Thursday registered 165 new cases, the highest number since last September 26, when 180 were registered.
Thus, the accumulated total since the beginning of the health emergency is 578,732.
Of this number, 551,200 correspond to recovered cases, while assets are 11,199. With that, for the eighth consecutive day the barrier of 10,000 people has been surpassed in the contagion phase, while the 11 thousand have been transferred for the second time in the last four days.
