The 2020 Plebiscite began: New Zealand opens the first table of the election process
At 4:22 p.m. in Chile, the first vote was held, in an act that was accompanied from a distance by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrés Allamand, and Patricio Santamaría, president of the Servel Board of Directors.
During the afternoon of this Saturday the Plebiscite 2020 where Chileans will decide whether or not a new Constitution will be drawn up, since the first table was opened for voting.
But it was not in Chile, but in New Zealand, a country where it is already October 25 and that from 8 am there opened the opening table, counting your first vote at 4:22 p.m. in our country.
The event was accompanied from a distance by a video call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrés Allamand, and Patricio Santamaría, president of the Servel Board of Directors.
Allamand clarified that all Chileans abroad will be able to vote, with the exception of two places in Argentina, due to the restrictions on mobility that exist due to the coronavirus.
Santamaría, for his part, assured that a balance of the tables set up for Sunday will be delivered during the afternoon of this Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Chilean consul in New Zealand, Maria Fernanda Gomez, assured that this will be the first time that it will be possible to vote in Auckland and that 754 will be authorized to do so and 734 in Wellington.
In this way, and due to the 16 hours difference that exists with Oceania, it will be the first continent where the vote will be taken and, at the same time, where the first results will be known.
