The Ministry of Health released this Thursday some details of contingency plans for Christmas and New Years in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which includes modifications in the curfew hours and in the capacity for meetings.
The Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, announced that On Christmas night, that is, from November 24 to 25, the curfew will begin at 02:00 and will last until 05:00.
Meanwhile, in the night of New Year this measure will start at 02:00 hours and will end at 07:00 hours on January 1.
On both dates mass events will be prohibited.
In relation to the capacity for meetings in open or closed spaces, both at Christmas and New Years, only residents for the communes that are in phase 1, of Quarantine; while in phase 2, Transition, concentrations may not exceed 15 participants, including residents.
This figure rises to 20 people in the case of Phase 3, Preparation, already 30 persons in Phase 4, from Initial opening.

The gauges may be “reasonable”, but “maybe it is a bit excessive that up to 20 or 30 people can meet, especially in closed spacesespecially when meeting people who had not met for a long time and whose exposure risks are not known, and where it is naturally very difficult to maintain self-care measures “, commented the infectologist Carlos Pérez.
For this reason, “in general I would call on people to behave similarly to the one they had for National Holidays,” advised the expert from the Universidad de Los Andes Clinic.
For December 24 and 25, a special permission to visit elderly residents in quarantined communes.
For the celebration of New Year there will also be sanitary cords in regional macrozones between December 30 and January 2.
During the summer holidays, the limitations in the transfer will be maintained and only communes can be visited from Step 3 onwards, while in Step 1 and 2 visitors cannot be received.
Along with this, reinforcements in inspection and control of capacity in tourist places were announced.
