The former goalkeeper of the Chilean team Nelson Tapia achieved his first title as a coach after he was crowned champion in the third division of Ecuador with the Guayaquil Sports club.
With the promotion to Serie B already consummated, the World Cup team in France ’98 beat Cumbayá 1-0 to win the crown.
Tapia arrived this year at the port city table and in a season reduced by the pandemic he achieved a campaign of five wins, two draws and two defeats.
Next year, Tapia and His team will play in the second level of Ecuadorian soccer in an attempt to reach the highest category after having been only in 1973.
