A mother of 89 years and his son 64 years they died of the coronavirus in Florida a few days apart. Last Friday, the mayor of the commune, Rodolfo Carter, denounced Roberto’s death inside his home, after taking care of his infected mother.
Roberto had moved to a house located on Trinidad Avenue to take care of Delisa after her retirement as Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile. According to La Segunda, women presented symptoms two weeks ago but they thought it was bronchitis.
However, after the visit of doctors from the Municipality of Florida they took her to the Eloísa Díaz Hospital where she was admitted for testing positive for coronavirus. After that situation, her son tried to take tests to find out if he had also been infected.
Fernando, another of the woman’s children, indicated that “my mother’s bronchitis worsened and when they took her to the hospital my brother said that he was the person who was most in contact with her, but they did not tell him anything. Not an exam, not a recommendation not to go outside. It was up to her free choice and then he started to feel bad. If it hadn’t been for the pressure, they would never have done the exam, the result of which we never knew in time. ”
According to the family, Roberto underwent the exam two days before he died after the municipal authorities. According to Fernando’s account, his brother went to the hospital at least three times to have the exam, but accused that “they did not want to do the exam, knowing that my mother was with Covid-19, she had been hospitalized and he lived with her” .
After not answering the phone, Roberto’s family visited him at his home, but they found him deceased last Friday. Those who found “my brother were two nephews. We did everything we had to do to enter the house, it was not found by someone who was passing by the house (…) My brother was not alone, ”said Fernando.
While Roberto’s funeral was taking place on Tuesday, his mother passed away from the coronavirus.
