Monument to Baquedano: now deputy Urrutia threatens to paint “trash” of Allende’s statue

The debate on the removal of the statue of General Manuel Baquedano does not give truce. After the Army refloated its intention for him to move for his safety, various opinions proliferated.

And tonight a tough defense was added in post to keep the general in place. The Republican Party deputy, Ignacio Urrutia, launched himself with everything.

In his twitter account he wrote: “If the Government makes the mistake of removing the statue of my General Baquedano, we are going to paint the statue of Allende as many times as necessary, until they remove that garbage that is in front of La Moneda.”

And he added that “that Marxist deserves to be in red #LeaveAlMarxista“.

The transfer of Baquedano

If a formal request is submitted, the Monuments Council will analyze the eventual transfer on Wednesday 28.

Meanwhile, the Army stated that “the institution is currently conducting a study to carry out a new formal proposal to relocate the equestrian monument of General Manuel Baquedano González, to be presented to the Council of National Monuments.”

This, they added, “in order to grant adequate protection and protection to the figure of the hero that belongs to all Chileans.”
