Workers of the Monticello casino union carry out a series of protests at kilometer 56 of Route 5 South during the morning of this Monday, demanding the reopening of the casinos from Phase 2 of the Step by Step plan.
According to the protesters, who have generated intermittent cuts on the route, they have not worked for months due to the pandemic: “We have been invisible, a lot has happened and we all have the need to work,” one of the workers told the 24 Hours channel.
In a letter sent to the regional authorities of O’Higgins, the workers request that the reopening of the gambling casinos in phase 2 be authorized. Currently, such permission is only allowed from phase 3 (Preparation).
In the letter, the union warns that if the measure is followed, the company will not be able to continue supporting them financially. For this reason, they were “immensely concerned” at the “lack of empathy” from the authorities.
We reiterate (10:15). Demonstrations are held by casino workers in # Ruta5Sur to the south, height km 55, Monticello sector. There is a reduction of tracks which generates slow traffic to this point. Caution. Photo @rutadelmaipo pic.twitter.com/PNWQuz1YKw
