“Imagine, suddenly you go to work and you come across this question.” That was part of the journalist’s story this Friday Monserrat Alvarez in the morning With you in the morningby Chilevisión. She revealed that several years ago, minutes before heading to her workplace on television, she learned from the press that she had been fired.
The conversation took place around 09:00 in the space hosted by Julio Cesar Rodriguez and she, in a segment in which they are used to telling funny anecdotes about their lives.
That was when they began to question the media that they were capable of leaking information, and to know what would happen to television faces, even before those involved found out.
Álvarez, 52, explained that everything happened in the program Day to day, which was broadcast on TVN between 1998 and 2003 and, initially, was hosted by the journalist Ivette Vergara. She recalled that she came to the animation of the space the year of its closure, along with Jaime Coloma and Bárbara Rebolledo.
But, surprisingly, the space ended up under the command of Rebolledo alone … and Monserrat did not find out in the best way. “I just remembered a horrible thing they did to me. These were not times of the internet, they were times when the newspaper came home early ”, the journalist began to tell, in a story that dates back to 2003.
“I went to work, I went to the schedule, leaving my house at 8:30 and suddenly a close friend called me and said: ‘Monse, what happened? Didn’t you see the Third?’ . The cover said: ‘Monserrat Álvarez leaves the program Day by Day’. Nobody had told me this question, and I obviously read it and I start cryingHe continued.
“Imagine, suddenly you go to work and you come across this question. I even remember what clothes I was wearing, at the door of my house, I open the question and read ‘Monserrat Álvarez out of Day to day: yesterday was his last day “”, he narrated.
After learning of his dismissal, Álvarez also went to the state channel and confronted the executive, who did not reveal his identity. He said that he wiped away his tears and entered his office. “I said, ‘what does this mean?’ I arrived strong “, he assured.
The executive confirmed the news and forced her to decide if it would air in that new broadcast. Still “strong,” however, she left determination in the hands of the show’s top dog. “He told me ‘you decide'”, he affirmed.

The journalist arrived in Chilevisión in 2019 and since then she has established herself in the morning’s conduction. At the end of May, she had to leave the animation for two weeks, after being infected with the new coronavirus, the pathogen that produces covid-19.
