During the morning of this Monday – and part of the noon -, the directors of the National Confederation of Freight Transport held a meeting to address the main guidelines of the mobilization that this Monday celebrates its fifth day.

Within the 10-point petition, the first has not yet reached consensus and has to do with powers that they seek to grant to the Ministry of the Interior, with the aim of effectively preventing terrorist attacks “, according to the text.

The president of FedeNorte, Silvia Salazar, confirmed that the bases rejected the latest counterproposal of the Government, especially because its implementation required a lot of time.

“The bases did not accept the proposal that the Government sent and they are correcting because what they offered was not what we asked for, it was nothing, they were more word, word, word, as always, and nothing. So now all the documentation is being drafted again, the bases will be called again to communicate it to them and if the bases agree, they will go where they have to go, ”he said.

Meanwhile, José Villagrán, president of Fedesur, pointed out that the government’s proposal was rejected: “Six pages that the advisers of the Interior Minister wrote since yesterday, because the Interior Minister has not taken the time to work with the truckers. The interior minister has not received us, only advisers ”.

“The presidents have met from Arica to Punta Arenas and we have made the decision to reject this proposal, but from now on we will talk exclusively with the Minister of the Interior. Advisors are useless. This they sent us: crumbs. The truckers are not for crumbs, “he said.

For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, again supported the request of the truckers, reiterating the need for the Government and the Confederation to dialogue. In addition, he assured that imports – for now – are developing normally.

“We have to take care of the demands of the truckers in Chile. They have been victims of a lot of violence, but problems are fixed by talking. Imports are developing normally ”, he assured.
