The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, participated during this Tuesday of the Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, an instance where it advanced some changes and ruled out a complete setback of the Metropolitan region a Quarantine.
Paris announced that together with the Ministry of Economy they are working on the improvement of the Step by Step plan, to adapt it according to the reality of each commune or region, responding to criticism for the centrality of the decisions that some mayors have suggested.
“Some elements of Footsteps must be modified, because I believe that there are regional realities that It must be respected and that must be taken into account so that the same criteria are not applied to the letter in Arica, where they can be on the street all day, or in Punta Arenas or in Aysén ”, the minister explained while speaking to the commission’s deputies.
Once the modifications are made, the new Step by Step will be presented to the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, for approval.
PCR without a doctor’s order
Consulted by the new decree of the Undersecretary of Assistance Networks, which allows a person to perform a PCR test without the need for a medical order, the head of Health remarked that the procedure is free.
“The PCR is free from the point of view that you will not need a medical order and by Fonasa it is free and traceability will not be lost, because it is mandatory to register them in the Epivigila registry,” he assured.
RM quarantine
Information that the minister took advantage of to clarify is related to a eventual regression of the Metropolitan region to Phase 1, that is, to Quarantine. Fake news on this matter has been spread on social networks.
“With regard to Phase 1… if we make a change to Phase 1 (…) I don’t think it will be a change for the entire Metropolitan region. If so, some commune but not the entire (Metropolitan) region ”, he indicated.
As it has transpired, it was only on Monday of next week that progress or setbacks could be announced in the Footsteps for the Metropolitan region, facing the end of the year holidays and depending on the contagion figures.
Vaccine prioritization

In this scenario, Minister Paris detailed the priorities for vaccinating, as recommended by the Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Immunizations (Cavei) from the Ministry of Health:
Priority 1 will be health personnel (clinical and administrative), both open and closed care.
Along the same lines, the so-called “critical personnel” corresponding to firefighters, some government officials, people deprived of liberty, older adults in ELEAM and patients and officials of mental health institutions.
In the second instance, the critical personnel that allow the normal operation of the Judicial Branch, Legislative Branch, Regional Governments, municipal officials and the Onemi.
Likewise, in this second stage the Metro transport staff, public locomotion drivers, railways and basic services staff such as drinking water, gas, gasoline, telecommunications, along with waste collectors.
Third, priority will be given to the personnel of the nurseries, kindergartens, as well as preschool and school education professionals and Brigadistas from Conaf.
At this stage, other public officials will also be vaccinated and Also uniformed deployed from the Armed Forces and the police, in addition to members of the Gendarmerie.
Once all those personnel have received the dose, We will proceed with the vaccination of older adults with and without underlying pathologies, and then pass to the rest of the adult and healthy population between 18 and 59 years old.
