The authorities of the Ministry of Health delivered this Saturday a new balance on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. In the instance 1,644 new infections were reported, which corresponds to the highest figure since November 6.
For his part, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, explained that “the 27% of the new cases reported originate from active search for a case and 33% of the cases are asymptomatic ”.
Thus, of the total of new infections detected in the last day, 1,093 are symptomatic and 536 are asymptomatic, according to the Undersecretary of Healthcare Networks Alberto Dougnac.
With it then, the total of cases diagnosed to date amounted to 529,676, with 505,243 people recovered and 9,358 active cases.
On the other hand, and according to information from Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS), were reported 39 new deaths from the virus, totaling 14,777 nationwide.
Regarding the healthcare network, there are currently 731 people hospitalized in intensive care units (UCI), “a figure that has remained stable in the last 10 days,” added Dougnac.
On this subject, Minister Paris had highlighted at the beginning of the balance that “38% of ICU beds are being occupied by Covid patients”, although he pointed out that “this does not mean that we are calm.”
Of the total hospitalized, 585 patients are on mechanical ventilation and 81 of them are in critical condition.
Finally, 40,522 PCR tests were carried out in the last day, thus reaching a total of 4,781,863 tests.
