This Friday the health authorities delivered a new balance on the advance of the coronavirus in the country, an opportunity where 3,827 new cases were reported.
In the Valparaíso instance, it reached its highest number in almost a month (338), the highest number of daily cases since last January 21 (384). In addition, it is the fourth highest daily figure for that region since the pandemic began.
Of the new infections, 2,470 correspond to symptomatic people and 1,099 to people who do not have symptoms. In addition, 258 Positive PCR tests were recorded that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with covid-19 in the country reaches 791,939. Of this total, 22,728 patients are in the active stage.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 99 deaths from causes associated with covid-19. The total number of deceased amounts to 19,897 in the country.
To date, 1,556 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU), of which 1,364 are on mechanical ventilation support and 62 are in critical health. Regarding the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 257 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 49,684 PCR tests were reported, reaching a total of 8,945,296 tests analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 7.70%.
In this regard, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, pointed out that of the totality of new cases, “29% originate from active case search (BAC) and 31% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan region, it presents 25% by BAC and 25% of the reported cases are asymptomatic ”.
Likewise, the health authority pointed out that “the variation in new confirmed cases nationwide is -3% for the last week and -11% in the last fourteen days.” The Secretary of State said that in addition “11 regions have decreased their cases in the last seven days and 14 days.”
Meanwhile, the Arica and Parinacota region registers the highest incidence rate in the country per 100,000 inhabitants. While the regions with the highest increase in new confirmed cases in the last seven days are: Aysén, Valparaíso, Metropolitana and La Araucanía.
