The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, released this Saturday a new balance of the progress of the pandemic due to covid-19 in our country, detailing that the new daily infections are once again maintained in the order of between 1,500 to 2,000 cases.
Specifically, they are 1,880 newly infected, which brings the total country to 468,471, being 14,671 of them active patients, that is, with the ability to continue spreading the virus to others.
Paris mourned the deaths of others 52 persons, who add to the terrible figure of 12,919 deaths from the virus and confirmed with positive PCR, according to DEIS data.
Yesterday 35,698 PCR tests were processed, with a national average positivity of 5.27%. At the regional level, only Atacama, Valparaiso, Metropolitana and Ñuble remain below that average. Magallanes, meanwhile, escapes with 32% positivity.
In the southern region, 267 new infections were registered, bringing assets to 1,517, the third region after Bío Bío (1,772) and Metropolitana (3,455), but with considerably fewer inhabitants, so its incidence rate is higher.
Since yesterday, in Magallanes there is an extended curfew, which begins at 8:00 p.m.
Regarding the situation in Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, which appear to be improving but are not out of quarantine, the minister indicated that these communes “are a united area, it is a single large city and unfortunately there are differences regarding various parameters between them and we are waiting that both figures are homologated. On Monday we have a meeting of the expanded group of ministers with the president where we will review the situation again ”.
