This Friday the health authorities delivered a new balance on the advance of the coronavirus in the country, an opportunity in which 1,099 new cases of COVID-19 were reported. Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 26 deaths from causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deceased amounts to 13,702 in the country.
To date, 770 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU), of which 604 are on mechanical ventilation support and 85 are in critical health. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 360 ventilators available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, this Tuesday the results of 25,731 PCR tests were reported, reaching a total of 3,955,343 tests analyzed nationwide to date. Regarding positivity, it reached 12.49%.
In this regard, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, pointed out that “the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level decreases 8% for the last seven days and 15% for the last 14 days.” Likewise, 12 regions decreased their new cases in the last seven days and 14 in the last 14 days. Paris also highlighted that “the positivity rate in the last 24 hours is 4% and the average of the last seven days is 5%.”
The regions with the highest increase in new confirmed cases are Los Lagos, Bío Bío, Los Ríos and O’Higgins, while Magallanes, although showing a decrease in the incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, continues to be the highest in the country .
In addition, the health authority reported that: “1,099 new cases are reported, of which 25% originate from active case search (BAC) and 32% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan region, it presents 21% by BAC and 37% of the reported cases are asymptomatic ”.
