The Ministry of Health published this morning a new balance on the evolution of the pandemic in the country and reported a decrease in the number of Covid-19 cases. Thus, on the last day, 1,389 infections were detected, the lowest figure in five days.
With the new cases of coronavirus reported -958 are symptomatic, 406 are asymptomatic and 25 are not yet reported-, the total positives diagnosed since March nationwide amounted to 563,534.
From them, 9,806 are active infections -a slight decrease compared to the previous balance figure (9,892) – and 537,727 are recovered patients.
On the other hand and according to data from Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS), were informed 17 new deaths because of the virus. To the date, 15,680 people have died in the country.
The document also reported thate 655 patients are hospitalized in intensive care units (ICU), 514 of them are on mechanical ventilation support and 59 people are in critical condition.
On the last day, 28,185 PCR tests were performed – ten thousand less than yesterday (38,743)-, while the daily positivity reached 4.93%.
According to the balance of the Minsal, the Metropolitan Region continues to register the highest number of new positives -340 cases in the last day-, followed by southern regions of the country: El Biobío (222), La Araucanía (149), Maule (135) and Los Lagos (113).
It should be remembered that due to the rise in infections in the RM that the health authorities have warned, yesterday they announced that all communes in the region will go back to the second phase of the Step by Step Plan (Transition) this Thursday the 10th and, with it, the quarantines will return to rule during the weekends.
So far this month of December, the capital accumulates 2,736 cases of Covid-19, according to Health reports.
This represents an increase of 17.3% in relation to those detected in the same period in November. In the first eight days of the eleventh month, they were confirmed 2,333 contagions in the Metropolitan Region.
