He Ministry of Health detected a new contaminated batch of the brand’s cornmeal “The Natural Source”, which is why a food alert was issued and a call was made not to consume it.

The Seremi de Salud of the Metropolitan region carried out a inspection of the company “La Fuente Natural”, located in the commune of Quilicura, where the corn flour of the same name is packaged.
There samples were taken from the Lot No. 0505200147 of the product, detecting a high concentration of fumonisins of at least double that allowed in the Food Sanitary Regulations.
Fumonisins correspond to a family of mycotoxins that contaminate corn. In relation to the values that were detected in the batch, does not acutely endanger people’s health (upset stomach, nausea, vomiting), but it does constitute a future danger if consumed in high concentrations and chronically.
As a precautionary measure, the withdrawal from the market of the Lot No. 0505200147 of corn flour “La Fuente Natural”, which was prepared on December 10, 2020 and whose expiration date is December 10, 2021.
Likewise, the packaging indicates that it is a Chilean product. This finding is added to the one reported on Wednesday, December 16, with respect to the same product corresponding to batch No. 0504020186.
The Ministry of Health calls on people not to consume flour that
corresponds to this lot if they have them in their homes.
