The Minister of the Interior, Victor Perez, the afternoon of this Wednesday arrived at Municipality of Cañete, in the Biobío Region, to meet with the families of the victims of violence in the Southern Cone of the Province of Arauco.
At this meeting with the Secretary of State came Ana Maria Ramirez, widow of Jorge Maulén, one of the businessmen who were once attacked in the Tirúa commune with a shotgun and who died in the following months.
Also from early on are in the municipality the mother and aunt of Moisés Orellana, the young man killed after an attack on cabins in the commune of Cañete.

Because of this, a comprehensive safety device with cuts in the central streets of Cañete and with many police personnel guarding the municipal building in this first meeting, something that the people who are grouped in this organization had been requesting.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Pérez reaffirmed that as a Government they will insist on the processing of the bill to investigate wood theft, a crime that, in his opinion, is behind the violence in the macrozone.
“We know that this illegal and illegitimate industry finances violent groups and therefore, although we do not have all the tools we want, we are strongly dedicated to pursuing it, “said the Secretary of State.
“We believe that it is essential that the Public Ministry and the police have the necessary tools. Even so, despite not having those tools and having difficulties in pursuing a mechanism that is fundamental in the financing of violent groups, such as the theft of Wood, we are going to persevere, because we are doing a whole action in conjunction with Internal Revenues, with Conaf and the police to persecute them, “he emphasized.

After the meeting, Minister Pérez will meet with the mayors of Arauco 7, which brings together the seven municipalities of the province of Arauco, to withdraw around 9:00 p.m. back to the Metropolitan Region.
