The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, ruled out this Saturday that Chile has entered the second wave of coronavirus infections, despite the increase in cases detected in recent days.

“The figures are not the same as the first waveHowever, a second wave may occur if the population does not take into account the measures of hand washing, masks, physical distancing, avoiding clandestine parties and respecting the curfew. That’s what we asked for the vaccine is not, yet, the solution. We will have 80% of the population vaccinated by the end of June“, he specified.

This Saturday the country reached a new peak of cases in five months by detecting 2,564 new infections in one day.
