After the Tens Zulema Riquelme became the first Chilean to receive the Pfizer vaccine against the coronavirus, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, explained what is coming in terms of the vaccination process in Chile.

“The vaccine is the first step and this first step will continue tomorrow in Santiago, and also in Magallanes, Biobío and La Araucanía,” said Paris, from a press point at the Metropolitan Hospital.

“As more vaccines arrive in Chile, obviously we are going to increase coverage. This cannot be done overnight,” he continued.

The Minsal head said that “production is limited at the beginning, but next week we continue to receive doses, in January every week we will receive doses, and probably after January 20 the Sinovac vaccine will be added.”

Regarding projections, Minister Paris declared that “we think that in the first quarter we will just have 5 million people vaccinated and in the first semester we will reach 80% of the population, which is what we consider necessary to have a coverage that allows the rest of the population to have enough defense and cover against the coronavirus “.
