Minister of the Interior reaffirms that after the outbreak “in Chile there has not been a systematic policy of human rights violations”

The Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, referred this Saturday to the words of the Chilean Foreign Minister Andrés Allamand, who recognized violations of people’s rights during the social outbreak by Carabineros officials.

In an interview with the EFE agency, the Chilean Foreign Minister declared, yes, that “there has never been any sort of organized planning on the part of the State, the Government or the police forces.”

In this regard, the Minister of the Interior stated that “as you know, there are various reports from international organizations, important organizations, and the Government has also clearly said that in Chile, since the social outbreak, there has not been a systematic policy of violations. of human rights ”.

“What we have are complaints that, obviously, are complaints that are being investigated, that both the Government and the police themselves, in this case the Carabineros, have made all the information available so that they can be clarified accordingly,” he added.

Along these lines, Minister Rodrigo Delgado added that “and if there are specific events, if there are events that are going to be and are being investigated, we will be respectful of those responsibilities that occur, but as a systematic policy of violation of human rights, that it has been discarded both locally and internationally ”.
