The Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa, traveled to Cañete to meet with the parents, attorneys and Mayor Jorge Radonich, to whom he expressed the government’s discomfort over what happened.

After the meeting, the secretary returned to Concepción, where together with the mayor Sergio Giacaman and the Minister of Education, Fernando Peña, filed a complaint for the crime of arson.


In addition to the work that the Government will carry out to support the investigation and find the whereabouts of those responsible, the Minister of Education discussed with the mayor of Cañete and the school community, the way to solve the almost 130 families whose children attend school in the Antiquina sector.

In this regard, Mayor Giacaman explained the coordination and commitment to accompany the students and their families while the establishment is being restored, indicating that a link was created between the municipality and the Seremi of Education in order to recover the infrastructure.

The Minister of Education experienced an uncomfortable episode, since upon entering and leaving the Office of the Prosecutor he was “founded” by a young man who was there, who with epithets questioned Raúl Figueroa’s insistence to request a return to face-to-face classes.
