Health Minister Jaime Mañalich explained again the parliamentary motion project – presented by Senator Alejandro Navarro and sponsored by the Government – that suspends the Eunacom test in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, and that seeks to inject health personnel into the system sanitary.

The minister explained that “there is a very complex aspect that is not resolved today by the health alert … the great problem we have is specialists.”

“The vast majority of patients facing this disease today … require intensive care doctors, anesthetists, people who know how to intubate well, who know how to use technology. And unfortunately, the health alert certifies that the person can work as a general practitioner , not to take charge of these situations, “he added.

He also insisted on the need to approve this bill so that these specialists “can exercise without legal risk as specialists and work in our country (…) during the evolution of this pandemic.”

It is worth noting that the Senate Health Commission yesterday approved this project in general, to which the Medical College has opposed, which indicated through a document that “it is unacceptable for the medical community to support a bill that pursues an objective that today is possible to achieve with the existing legal instruments and which has also not been presented or discussed by the Executive with any of the actors that adhere to this declaration. “

Lack of PCR test

The authority of the Ministry of Health also referred to the scarcity of PCR tests, noting that “the Minsal acquired a significant number of PCR tests to keep up with the pace of testing that we are carrying out.”

“PCR tests focus on people with symptoms, close contact, or respiratory complications,” he added.
